Mixson Debuts “Battle of the Brushes” Emerging Artist Showcase

Mixson, a vibrant community in North Charleston’s historic Park Circle neighborhood, will introduce Battle of the Brushes, an art show and friendly competition supporting Charleston’s collegiate artists, on Sunday, March 13, from 2 to 5 p.m.

Highlighting students from the Art Institute of Charleston, College of Charleston and Trident Technical College, the interactive event will feature artwork from a selected group of emerging artists displayed in eight unoccupied homes at Mixson. In addition to the art show, the first Battle of the Brushes title is at stake. Each attendee will have the opportunity to vote for the best-in-show, and the artist with the majority of votes will be awarded $500 and top honors.

Throughout the self-paced excursion, guests will enjoy refreshments and music in the Mixson courtyard. Featured artwork will be available for purchase to benefit the local artists, and Mixson’s LEED Gold certified model residences will be open for tours.
